چکیده
Background and aims Experience of alcohol-induced memory blackouts in adolescence may be an important risk factor for later harms. This longitudinal study (i) modelled trajectories alcohol-related throughout adolescence, (ii) explored early-adolescent predictors blackout (iii) examined the association between alcohol use disorder (AUD) symptoms. Design Longitudinal which data from six annual surveys a cohort Australian adolescents were used to model latent class growth blackouts, adjusting consumption frequency typical quantity. Regression models determine whether parent, child peer factors at baseline (mean age = 12.9) predicted profiles trajectory membership meeting criteria AUD early adulthood 19.8). Setting participants (n 1821; mean 13.9–18.8 years). Measurements Alcohol-related frequency, quantity DSM-5 all self-reported. Findings We identified three-class solution: delayed initiation, rare 701; 38.5%); 869; 47.7%); increasing 251; 13.8%). Female sex was associated with increased relative [relative ratio (RRR) 3.90; 99.5% confidence interval (CI) 1.96, 7.76] (RRR 2.89; CI 1.42, 5.87). Early [odds (OR) 1.96; 1.17, 3.29] (OR 4.93; 2.32, 10.48) each odds blackouts. 2.51; 1.18, 5.38). Conclusions Females Australia appear higher adolescent independent levels initiation. disorder.

OBJECTIVES This analysis presents the prevalence of substance use among young adolescents. The extent to which factors such as peer behaviour, parenting practices and school commitment and achievement are associated with drinking to intoxication and other drug use is investigated. DATA SOURCE The data are from the 1998/99 National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth. Analysis is based o...

Sunbed use during adolescence and early adulthood is associated with increased risk of early-onset melanoma.
Sunbed use is associated with increased risk of melanoma. Younger people might be more susceptible to the carcinogenic effects of ultraviolet radiation. We investigated the association between sunbed use and risk of early-onset cutaneous malignant melanoma. From the Australian Melanoma Family Study, a multicentre, population-based, case-control-family study, we analysed data for 604 cases diagn...
متن کاملAlcohol use initiation is associated with changes in personality trait trajectories from early adolescence to young adulthood.
BACKGROUND Recent work has demonstrated the codevelopment of personality traits and alcohol use characteristics from early adolescence to young adulthood. Few studies, however, have tested whether alcohol use initiation impacts trajectories of personality over this time period. We examined the effect of alcohol use initiation on personality development from early adolescence to young adulthood....

This paper introduces new longitudinal network data from the "Promoting School-Community-University Partnerships to Enhance Resilience" or "PROSPER" peers project. In 28 communities, grade-level sociometric friendship nominations were collected from two cohorts of middle school students as they moved from 6(th), to 9(th) grade. As an illustration and description of these longitudinal network da...
